Frequently Asked Questions
My granite has a line running through it. Is that a crack or a fissure?
Likely a natural fissure. Fissures are part of the stone's geology and aren't structural failures. If you can't feel it with your fingernail, it's cosmetic. If it catches your nail or has widened, we can stabilize it with a clear epoxy fill.
A heavy pan chipped the front edge of my granite island. Can you rebuild it?
Yes. We rebuild bullnose and eased edges using pigmented epoxy shaped to match your original edge profile. The repair is then polished to blend with the surrounding stone.
The seam between my two granite slabs has separated. What happened?
Seams separate due to settling, thermal expansion, or adhesive failure over time. We clean out the old adhesive, re-align the slabs, and re-bond with colour-matched epoxy. The result is often tighter than the original.
How visible will a granite chip repair be?
On speckled or busy-patterned granites, repairs are usually invisible. On solid-colour or highly veined stones, we get very close but a faint line may be detectable up close under direct light.
Should I repair or replace my granite countertop?
Unless the slab is cracked across the full width or severely damaged in multiple areas, repair is almost always the better option. A typical chip repair costs $175-$350 versus $3,000-$8,000+ for replacement.
